Dinner last night was GREAT! I ended up adding about a cup and a half of chicken broth...I like more broth - and then I threw some herb dumplings off in there (I use a half recipe - so half of the below)...
2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 tsp thyme leaves
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp shortening
3/4 cup milk
1. Mix flour, spices, baking powder and salt in medium bowl, mix well.
2. Cut in shortening until it looks like fine crumbs. (I don't have a pastry blender, so I use a bamboo spatula)
3. Stir in milk.
4. Drip dough by spoonfuls into boiling broth and cook uncovered for 10min, then cover and cook another 10min.
(hint: take the dumplings out of the soup/stew before you turn off the heat...otherwise they get soggy).
Yummy!!!

Girl, you make me feel like a really lazy mommy/wife. I'm nowhere close to making my own dumplings, let alone knowing what a bamboo spatula is. My family is fed though, at least. You rock :)
Hey Girl...fed is a lot to ask wiht 4mos old twins - you rock!!! I didn't start cooking until Bryan was a year and a half...and I still cheat a lot too! LOL
